SHIKARI SOUND SYSTEM

At this year’s Reading / Leeds Festival, SHIKARI SOUND SYSTEM will make its world debut headlining the Lock-Up Stage on FRIDAY 23rd (Leeds) and SUNDAY 25th (Reading) August.

Shikari Sound System is the electronic alter-ego of the British band Enter Shikari, famous for blurring the lines between musical genres across three (thus far) UK chart top 5 albums since they hit the wider public consciousness in 2006.
Having DJed and produced in various side projects over the years they finally decided to fully elope with live dance music, and so was born the Shikari Sound System.

For further explanation, let’s hear it from the horse’s mouth ;
“Expect re-worked Enter Shikari tracks along with classic remixes and new surprises. Expect eerie live electronics and tent-peg-dislodging basslines. Expect a tour through many dance tempos and electronic genres that have been a constant inspiration to our band’s sound.
Combining both live instruments and percussion with dub-plate wizardry, this is one for the skankers, the steppers, the movers and the shakers.”

Enter Shikari have a deep history with the Reading / Leeds Festival – attending as teenagers, and having played the festival five times in the past seven years – and so embraced the opportunity to return once again, albeit in ‘disguise’.

The band’s latest single, a 1min16sec blast entitled ‘The Paddington Frisk’, has this week been added to the BBC Radio 1 playlist, as the band enter into the final week of a largely sold out tour of the less-frequently-visited-by-major-rock-shows parts of the UK.

If your venue isn’t stocking it, it isn’t our fault, their fault, or the brewery’s fault. There are licensing deals that can block things like this from being possible, totally out of anyone’s control.
We will update this post when we know more about the other venues.

We sometimes, when we are able, let some fans who are queuing for shows from early into the venue for soundcheck.
it made sense for this upcoming tour to maybe try that in a more organised way.
So, WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO (i.e: there might be a very good reason why a particular venue won’t let us or whatever other circumstances may occur as we get into the tour).. the first 30 or so people who are in the queue around soundcheck time will be let in, and then we’ll do a little “hiya” and scribble session too.
nobody will be charged money for this. let’s call it a goodwill gesture.

*PLEASE* understand that we have to abide by venue rules, and by the fact that there’s work to do on show days… so whatever the Tour Manager says, goes!
if we’re only allowed to let 20 people in, then please respect that if you’re not one of those people.
Its impossible to please everybody, so be understanding of that.
This stuff only works if everyone plays nice, so cut us a little slack. Thanks.

Also… Dorking… as this is first night of the tour, we probably can’t do the soundcheck part as there’s a LOT of work to do.
MIGHT still be able to do the meet & greet, but we have to play it by ear on the day.
